Protein Cart presents agro-industrial project for chicken production in the Commune of Casseque, Municipality of Ganda

Lobito, December 01, 2025: Cart Protein, a company of the Cart Group dedicated to the production of animal protein, held today, in the Commune of Casseque, Municipality of Ganda, the official presentation of its new agro-industrial project for chicken production, which represents a decisive step in the national strategy to promote food security and diversify the economy.

The event was attended by different local entities, namely the Municipal Administrator of Ganda, the Municipal Director of Agriculture, the Secretary of Administration, the Administrator of the Commune of Casseque, the Municipal Administrator for the Financial Area and other municipal entities. Representing the Cart Group, Mr. Rui Cart, Vice CEO of the Group, the Non-Executive Director, Samuel Candundo, Mr. Lissandro Filipe, Secretary of the Board, Mr. Nuno Paulo, Director of Cart Protein and Mr. Nelson Carreira, Project Director, were present.

The total investment is estimated at USD 37 million, co-financed by IFC (40%), commercial banking (40%) and own funds (10%), which reflects the partners’ confidence in the transformative potential of the Angolan agro-industrial sector. With production scheduled to start in June 2027, the project provides for an integrated operating model, capable of doubling production capacity through partnerships and integration systems with local producers. The unit will directly produce 25,000 tons/year of chicken, while the integrated producers, supported by the supply of feed, chicks, technical assistance and purchase guarantee by Cart Protein, are expected to produce another 50,000 tons/year, a total of 75,000 tons of chicken meat per year.

In addition, 3 million chicks/year will be placed on the market for direct sale, which will strengthen the access of small and medium-sized producers to quality inputs and boost national competitiveness. With this model, it is estimated that the project will ensure at least 50% substitution of chicken imports in the country and will contribute significantly to food sovereignty.
In terms of social impact, the project foresees the creation of 750 direct jobs, with only 1.2% of expatriates and 50/50 gender parity, in addition to about 3,000 indirect jobs, with the inclusion of integrated producers, service providers, transporters and raw material suppliers.

The installation of the project in Casseque is part of the Cart Group’s commitment to the enhancement of local production chains, direct and indirect employment generation and sustainable development of rural communities. With this project, Cart Protein reinforces its mission to ensure quality animal protein, at affordable prices, produced in Angola and thus contribute to the reduction of food imports and the strengthening of the national economy.

After this phase of official presentation to the local authorities, the project will enter a stage of consultation and dialogue with the communities of the Commune of Casseque, to ensure that economic development is in harmony with the people and the territory. The initiative also includes the implementation of environmentally sustainable practices, including responsible waste management, energy reuse and integration of feed production systems, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For the Cart Group, this project symbolizes the convergence between business vision, social responsibility and commitment to Angola.
