Grupo Cart was recently the subject of a report by Al Jazeera, one of the most prestigious international television channels, which highlighted the company’s role in promoting local production, industrialization and food security in Angola.
The report frames the country’s economic context, historically dependent on oil exports, and the challenges arising from this dependence, namely the heavy import of food products. According to data presented, Angola imports more than half of the food it consumes, representing a high cost to the national economy.
In this scenario, the Cart Group is presented as a practical case of economic diversification, through an integrated model that links agricultural production to industrial transformation.
The Al Jazeera team followed Cart Agri’s Agricultural Development Program on the ground, observing the support provided to producers, mechanization, irrigation and technical training, fundamental to increase productivity and ensure sustainable incomes for agricultural families.

The report also visited the Cart Industrial Complex (CIC), in Benguela, where cereals such as corn, rice and wheat are processed, demonstrating the entire industrial process — from milling to the separation of by-products destined for animal feed.
During the report, the following were interviewed:
• David Maciel, CEO of Cart Agri, who underlined the importance of local production as a matter of survival and dignity for the Angolan people;
• Décio Catarro, CEO of Cart Indústria, who explained the role of the industry in valuing field products and reducing imports.

This international recognition reinforces Grupo Cart’s position as a strategic player in Angola’s economic development, in line with the national objectives of food security, job creation and sustainable growth.
