The CEO of Grupo Cart, Nelson Cart, is the protagonist of the latest episode of the program “Talking Development”, an initiative of the World Bank Group dedicated to the discussion of concrete solutions to the challenges of global economic development.
The interview, conducted by Anna Bjerde – Director General of Operations at the World Bank – was published on the official channel (Youtube) of the aforementioned institution, on April 20, 2026.
Under the theme “How Agribusiness Can Transform Angola’s Economy and Create Jobs”, the conversation highlights the structuring role of agribusiness as a catalyst for Angola’s economic transformation, with a direct impact on job creation, poverty reduction and promotion of sustainability.
During the interview, Nelson Cart presents a clear and pragmatic view of the potential of the agro-industrial sector in Angola, advocating a model based on the vertical integration of the value chain — from agricultural production to industrial transformation and distribution. This model, already implemented by the Cart Group, emerges as a concrete response to the need to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen national production. Throughout the conversation, it is reinforced that agribusiness can become one of the main engines of inclusive economic growth in the country, especially when combined with industrialization, capable of adding value to agricultural production and generating sustainable jobs.
