Cart Agri, in partnership with the company AgriHeroes and the National Coffee Institute of Angola (INCA), is part of the intensive training course “Sustainable Agriculture Standards”. The training action began this Monday, October 28, at the Amboim Experimental Station, Cuanza-Sul province. Its objective is to prepare managers and technicians in the coffee sector and agriculture in general for the Rainforest Alliance certification, a world reference in sustainability.
With the certification, Cart Agri’s Agricultural Development Program reinforces the commitment to boost the national agricultural sector, orienting it towards the global market. Thus, Cart Agri’s field technicians will be better able to train both family and large-scale producers with sustainable agriculture practices in accordance with internationally accepted standards.
According to Teresa Margarida Freitas, co-founder of AgriHeroes, the course represents a breakthrough for the sector, being an important milestone in the transition to more ethical and sustainable production practices, which benefit both nature and the local economy.
With the new European requirements, those who do not have certification will not be able to export to these markets” – TeresaFreitas, co-founder of AgriHeroes.
In addition to environmental requirements, Rainforest Alliance certification covers social and economic aspects that favor fair working conditions and the preservation of biodiversity. Thus, the participation of Cart Agri technicians reflects the company’s commitment to responsible agricultural practices, in line with the Group’s development goals and the internationalization strategy of its products. Otherwise, it will become increasingly difficult to access the rigorous European markets, which prioritize products aligned with environmental and social sustainability standards.
The training is led by Marla Naidoo, Africa director at the Rainforest Alliance. Marla brings extensive experience in international trade and sustainable development, excelling in guiding agricultural practices that combine innovation and environmental responsibility.
