United Nations Assistant Secretary-General visits the Carrinho Industrial Complex and the School Lunch Program

The Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohamed, visited today, Friday, May 16, the Carrinho Industrial Complex (CIC) and one of the schools covered by the School Lunch Program, located in the Taca neighborhood, Benguela province.

The visit of this senior official is part of the agenda of the Annual Regional Retreat of the United Nations Resident Coordinators in Africa, which takes place between 15 and 18 May, according to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

The program began in one of the schools benefiting from the School Lunch, where the delegation was received by the Group’s deputy CEO, Rui Carrinho, where he closely followed the reality of the children covered and the impact of the initiative. This was followed by a trip to the Carrinho Industrial Complex, where the delegation toured the pasta and cereal production units and got in touch with the progress of the Phase 3 works.

The delegation included the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, the Governor of Benguela Province, Manuel Nunes Júnior, and other members of the central and local government.

The presence of the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General at Grupo Carrinho facilities is an international recognition of the company’s contribution to sustainable development and food security in the country.
